your story is the filter

we do not ask you to fill a form. we ask you to write. how you tell your story shows depth, authorship, and whether you are worth a founder's time.

you do not apply here. you write.

that is not a cute line. it is the door. most hiring products ask you to paste a resume into boxes. boxes make everyone look the same. an open email does not.

what writing shows

when someone writes who they are, what they built, and why a founder should care, they leave a trail. you see what they choose to put first. you see if they can make a hard thing simple. you see if the work sounds like theirs.

a resume lists titles. a story shows judgment. judgment is what founders are buying when they hire.

personality without a profile quiz

we are not scoring vibes. we are reading for signal. does this person own their work. do they hide behind buzzwords. do they talk about outcomes or only tools. do they sound calm under pressure, or loud for attention.

the unformatted email is deliberate. high agency people can sit down and write. people who need a form to know what to say often need more structure than a startup can give.

most who write do not get in

that is the point. the shortlist only works if the bar is real. exclusivity is not marketing. it is the product.

if you want in, write talent@theshortlist.com. tell us who you are, what you built, and why you are worth a founder's time. leave it open. we will.
